Book Review: The Midnight Carousel (A Forest Falls Frolic) by Hanna Park

This book has all the charm of a Hallmark Christmas movie, but with plenty of humour, mystery and a little extra magic thrown in!

Belle was a very easy heroine to warm to. She can run a busy inn and organise everyone around her without batting an eyelid, but Hudson, the hero, seems to have a rather unfortunate effect on her ability to think straight. I liked Hudson just as much, although I did occasionally wish he would stop being so mysterious and simply tell Belle what was going on!

Their romance develops slowly, with lots of lovely little moments between them. I found myself smiling at the pair of them and wondering how long they could possibly keep pretending they weren't falling for each other.

Forest Falls is a wonderful setting too. The snow, Christmas lights, skating, old inn and carousel made me want to visit. This is very much a magical read, though, so expect a few unexpected surprises along the way. Things in Forest Falls aren't always quite as ordinary as they first appear!

There are some great supporting characters too, but Nana Iris was probably my favourite. She knows exactly what is going on with Belle long before Belle is prepared to admit it herself, and she made me laugh several times.

Underneath all the Christmas fun there is also a lovely story about finding somewhere you truly belong and the people who make a place feel like home.

A warm, funny and magical Christmas read that left me with a smile on my face.
